JustFundKY has adopted a new strategic plan: we want to turbo charge our Cliff Todd Endowment. The first ten years of fundraising have been truly remarkable: we reached our goal of one million dollars in just four years. Since reaching our goal, we have awarded grants of about $250,000 from our annual earnings to community groups around the state. We have also managed to increase our endowment balance to 1.3 million dollars!
However, we cannot rest on our past successes. The needs in our Commonwealth are great. When County Clerk Kim Davis refused to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples in Morehead, she was reminding us that many Kentuckians still are not sold on equal rights for LGBTQ individuals. Just this year, a KY Circuit Judge refused to allow LGBTQ parents to adopt children saying he could never find that it was in the best interest of a child to have LGBTQ parents.
We have a long way to go and we need an even stronger endowment to get us there. That’s why we are embarking on a campaign to increase our endowment to 5 million dollars. We will do this with gifts, both large and small, and with planned giving. Be part of this campaign. Help us reach our goal. To donate now, please go to the contributions page.
