2012 Grant Award Recipients
JustFundKY has awarded grants to 10 community-based organizations that advocate and advance fairness for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender citizens. Its Cliff Todd Endowment supports the following 2012 initiatives around the state:
CARNEGIE CENTER FOR LITERACY & LEARNING
$2,500 for its second annual LGBT Writing Contest, which provides a platform for sharing experiences through prose and poetry
FAIRNESS COALITION
$5,000 to promote local fairness ordinances in rural Kentucky
FAIRNESS EDUCATION FUND
$1,000 to help with its resource booth at the State Fair
GAY & LESBIAN SERVICE ORGANIZATION
$3,500 for expanded programming in its Youth Empowerment Project
MURRAY STATE UNIVERSITY'S SAFE ZONE
$750 to educate and train staff members on such issues as homophobia, coming out and bullying
PANDORA PRODUCTIONS
$2,500 to sponsor an LGBT-themed theatrical production this season
PFLAG LEXINGTON
$1,800 for its Stay Strong program, which reaches out to parents, families and friends, offering LGBTQ resources and support
THE NEST CENTER FOR WOMEN, CHILDREN & FAMILIES
$5,000 for "Breaking the Silence" workshops, a collaborative effort to raise awareness of the needs of LGBTQ youth
NURSING HOME OMBUDSMAN AGENCY OF THE BLUEGRASS
$5,000 for advocacy training of long-term care providers
UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE'S OFFICE FOR LGBT SERVICES
$2,000 for the Ambassadors leadership development program for LGBTQ college students
